OY FANOY
warm is the ground

The origin of “Warm is the Ground“ came to me whilst working outside on my vegetable garden. I was inspired by my surroundings and surprised to feel just how warm the ground was. It is such a great source to connect to and get inspiration from.

When I started sheep farming for wool, I learnt that my sheep have a good sense as to where the temperature changes are. They migrate to the certain parts of any field they graze in, where there is a specific flow of air. This becomes the area they all flock to and graze happily together.

Lay down and just be
Oyfanoy handmade knits are inspired by the natural world around. My vegetable garden, the fields where the sheep graze, the forest and the open plains are all so typical of Northern of France.

Waste less – wear longer
Oyfanoy handmade knits are ‘slow’ fashion that is made to last, infused with love and care, to be worn by generations to come. All designs are light and easy to wear, very soft and comfortably warm. And all knits are washed after knitting.

Oyfanoy wool is spun to a thickness of 2-3 mm, and combined with beautiful alpaca and mohair wool from other small label companies such as Rosa Pomar, Filcolana and Mohair by Canard. In my yarn collection I can offer wools in specific blues or beautiful browns.

No woman is an island
Oyfanoy is a growing collection of original knitwear and always made of quality wool. I knit with my own Oyfanoy wool, but also love to mix it with other colours and different wool, such as soft alpaca or glowing soft silk mohair. All wool that I use is guaranteed to be produced only by other small labels, with a similar ethos to myself. These wools are produced in France, Denmark, Scotland and South Africa, by people with a heart for diversity, animal welfare and quality wool. When you buy an Oyfanoy product you not only support me and my sheep, but also families and friends who work locally and connect with the world through their philosophy of work.

Off grid / Workshops
The future of Oyfanoy is looking good. In de summer of 2023 we expanded with an offer of accommodation for all nature lovers to stay and relax, surrounded by the countryside: the off grid camper with its own field and private entrance. There is an opportunity to participate in knitting workshops in autumn and winter 2023-2024. Please feel free to contact me for further information on these workshops.

There will be many several workshop opportunities in 2023 and 2024, a chance to work with my beautiful wool, and I look forward to welcoming you.

In the meantime, order from my limited stock on the webshop. If your size is not available, just let me know, and it can be made for you and delivered to your door.
